Interpreter-supported notary appointments are available in Lake Charles, Louisiana for clients who need Spanish-language assistance during the notarization. We provide the notarial service, and a Registered Interpreter is scheduled to assist with communication during the appointment.
This service is for clients who are not able to communicate directly in English during the notarization process. Interpreter appointments must be scheduled in advance.

¿Por qué se requiere un intérprete profesional de español para la notarización?
Muchas personas preguntan si nuestro trabajo es simplemente presenciar una firma. La respuesta es no. Debemos comunicarnos directamente con la persona que firma para cumplir con obligaciones legales específicas.
Al notarizar una firma, realizamos uno de los siguientes actos:
- Declaración jurada→ la persona firma frente a nosotros y hace un juramento o afirmación de que el contenido del documento es verdadero.
- Autenticación→ la persona confirma su identidad y que firmó de manera voluntaria
- Juramento → declaración verbal bajo juramento, con o sin documento
Cada uno de estos actos requiere una comunicación clara y directa entre nosotros y la persona que firma.
Debido a que estos son actos legales, la comunicación no puede manejarse a través de un amigo, familiar o de una aplicación, a menos que su amigo o familiar sea un profesional y pueda presentar sus credenciales.
Se requiere un traductor profesional para garantizar la precisión y la comprensión adecuada.

Why is a professional Spanish interpreter required for notarization?
Many people ask if our job is simply witnessing a signature. The answer is no. We must communicate directly with the signer to perform specific legal duties.
When notarizing a signature, we are performing one of the following:
- Jurat → signer signs in front of us + takes oath/affirmation that contents are true
- Acknowledgment → signer confirms identity + that they signed willingly
- Oath / Affirmation → verbal sworn statement (with or without document)
Each of these requires clear, direct communication between us and the signer.
Because these are legal acts, communication cannot be handled through a friend, family member, or an app. (unless you have a friend or family member that is a professional and can provide credentials.)
A professional interpreter is required to ensure accuracy and proper understanding.

Requisitos de la cita
- Identificación: Documento de identificación con fotografía, emitido por el estado o el gobierno, cuyo nombre coincide con la del firmante.
- Presencia en persona: Todos los firmantes deben comparecer físicamente durante el acto notarial
- Capacidad y consentimiento: El firmante debe ser competente, entender el documento y firmar de manera voluntaria
- Cita requerida: Todas las citas deben programarse con anticipación para poder coordinar con el intérprete
- Comunicación: Se prefieren las comunicaciones por mensaje de texto o correo electrónico
- Documento: Todo documento debe estar impreso y completo, excepto la firma y la fecha
- Testigos: Si su documento requiere testigos, ellos deberán estar presentes con sus documentos de identificación con fotografía, emitidos por el estado o el gobierno.
- Depósito requerido: Se requiere un depósito no reembolsable antes de programar la cita (pagado con tarjeta de débito o crédito)
- Puntualidad: Debe llegar a tiempo. Llegar tarde o una ausencia causará la pérdida del depósito y será necesario pagar nuevamente para una nueva cita

Appointment Requirements:
- ID: State or government-issued photo identification with matching name
- In-person appearance: All signers must physically appear before the notary
- Understanding & willingness: Signer must be competent, understand the document, and sign willingly
- Appointment required: All appointments must be scheduled in advance to coordinate with the interpreter
- Communication: Text or email is preferred for scheduling and updates
- Document: Must be printed out & completed, except for signature and date
- Witnesses: If your document requires witnesses, they must be present with state or government-issued photo identification
- Deposit required: A non-refundable prepaid deposit is required prior to scheduling (paid by debit or credit card)
- Punctuality: You must arrive on time. Late arrivals or no-shows will forfeit the deposit and require a new appointment fee
- Interpreter requirement: Friends, family members, or interpreter apps may not be used. If you provide your own interpreter, certification must be submitted and approved prior to the appointment
- Fees: Deposits start at $75.00 | Full appointment fees start at $100.00
